The Executive Director of Alliance for Peace, Integration and Climate Action (APICA) Mr. Abdoulkarim Mohamed Moustapha, along with members of Somaliland’s civil society organizations, held a meeting with the Acting Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. James Swan, who is on an official visit to Somaliland.

The meeting focused on strengthening the collaboration between the United Nations and Somaliland’s civil society organizations (CSOs), particularly regarding their role in peacebuilding, development, and the promotion of democracy. During the discussion, they reviewed the success of Somaliland’s recent combined elections, emphasizing the importance of partnership and the role of youth in peace and national development.

Both sides also discussed the peace and security situation in the eastern regions of Sanaag and Sool, and explored ways to contribute jointly towards achieving sustainable peace in Somaliland.
