APICA Meets with CCF Founder Dr. Laurie Marker in Hargeisa
On May 10, 2025, the Alliance for Peace Integration and Climate Action (APICA) had the honour of meeting Dr. Laurie Marker, Founder and Executive Director of the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
The Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) is a global leader in cheetah protection and wildlife conservation, with active operations and support networks in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Canada, Italy, and France. Its mission-driven work combines research, rescue, education, and community engagement to ensure a sustainable future for cheetahs and their ecosystems worldwide.
This timely and impactful meeting opened a promising dialogue on future collaboration, rooted in a shared commitment to wildlife conservation, environmental education, and community empowerment. Both organizations expressed interest in working together to engage youth, support agro-pastoralists and livestock keepers, and raise awareness among schoolchildren on the importance of biodiversity and ecological protection.
APICA also emphasized its broader mission to promote natural resource management, climate resilience, and sustainable rural development. Through community capacity building, climate-smart agriculture training, and environmental outreach, APICA aims to strengthen local livelihoods while advancing collective action on climate and conservation across Somaliland.
We look forward to building a strong and enduring partnership with CCF one that unites conservation and peacebuilding for a more resilient and sustainable future.
Together for nature. Together for peace.
